Bedford Road MSCP Lighting Installation

Equilux carried out the complete electrical rewire and relighting of Bedford Road MSCP, a 24/7 operational 1033 space car park and associated offices including a 24 hour control room, new plant room and sub main cabling.

The client (Guildford Borough Council) required the works to be undertaken whilst maintaining a 24 hour operational car park and accompanying offices. The works were carefully programmed so that each car park deck only lost a quarter of its available parking at any time whilst maintaining traffic flows throughout the car park.

A new Plant room was created for the new electrical services, these services included over 4 miles of conduit and containment and 15 miles of cabling. At all times the existing lighting was maintained until the final changeover and then final strip out of the old electrical services.

In total 1060 Modern energy efficient LED light fittings were installed to achieve the CIBSE recommended lighting levels with energy consumption reduced by 46%.

The 24 hour control room works were completed out of hours to minimise disruption to the client whilst maintaining standby power during the 3 hour shut down period required.

The works were completed on time and within budget and Equilux now comprehensively maintains the installation for a 5 year period.
